This is part two of Jeff and Christine's downtown Fort Worth anniversary portrait session from last year, which was featured on Burnett's Boards. You can see part one, inspired by New Years Eve here (which will be featured on Virginia Grace Social next week!)
Jeff contacted me to surprise Christine with a session around the holidays. Christine is the brilliant stylist, planner and owner of Alexander Event Co. When Jeff and I were chatting details, he told me that Christine is always making awesome things happen for other people and he wanted to make something awesome happen for her. He's a keeper! Florals & styling: Alexander Event Co. MUAH: Kiss and Make Up DFW Dress: Rent the Runway Film processing: The FIND Lab I'll admit it: I love love love LOVE engagement sessions. I love getting to connect with my couples in a casual, laid-back and STRESS-FREE environment. I love learning what the story of each relationship, how you interact and how to best capture your story. Engagement sessions are my fave. Since engagement session season is upon us, I thought I'd share some of my favorite locations for Dallas engagement photo sessions. This list is by no means exhaustive -- let's be honest, Dallas is huge and I haven't even started to conquer locations. However, I have some favorite go-to's that almost always produce beautiful results. Do you have any favorite locations I should check out?? 1. Prather Park Prather Park is tucked away in a quiet Highland Park neighborhood, just below street level. You'll have to take stairs to get there but there are some charming stone bridges and plenty of nooks and crannies to snuggle into. 2. Davis Park Just across the street from Prather Park is Davis Park. A lot of people know it as the area that surrounds the Highland Park pool. There is a gorgeous old European-style bridge that is the perfect frame for any madly-in-love couple. 3. White Rock Lake Gosh, there are so many spots at White Rock Lake that I'm having a hard time narrowing them all down. I think I may need to do a blog post dedicated just to photo locations at White Rock! Here are a few of my usuals, though: -Near the Bath House Cultural Center (Jeremias) -The boathouse/docks (M&B) -Near docks (Hanson) 4. Deep Ellum When we talk about Deep Ellum, I think there's a perception that it's mostly grunge and rockerish. However, if you keep your photo shoot eyes open, you'll find plenty of pretty nooks, doorframes and steps to stop along and shoot at. Proof is the photos, my friends. 5. Lakeside Park
OK, I know this is not a photo of an engagement shoot but I just loved the magical light of this session I did for Frances back in the fall at Lakeside Park. Just a few blocks down from Davis and Prather Parks, there are lily pads, hidden alcoves and entrances to the stream leading into the lake. I could spend hours exploring all the ins and outs of Lakeside Park. When Jeff first contacted me to surprise his wife, Christine, with a session around the holidays, I was ecstatic. Not only is Christine the brilliant stylist, planner and owner of Best Day Ever Events, but she is the sweetest gal around. And with Jeff's gesture, it was clear to me he was (and is), too. He told me that Christine is always making awesome things happen for other people and he wanted to make something awesome happen for her.
We met at the T & P Train Station in downtown Fort Worth for it's art deco 1920s vibe. It was the perfect backdrop. Christine pulled the whole thing together in less than 48 hours -- I know! They dressed to the nines, fitting perfectly into their surroundings. Jeff and Christine were pros in front of the camera and seriously made my job so easy. Fort Worth is the first city they've lived in as a married couple and I can't think of a better way to document such an importance place in their lives. Jeff, thank you so much for letting me be part of such a fun surprise for Christine. Y'all are gems! Venue: T & P Station, Fort Worth, Texas MUAH: Kiss and Make Up DFW Dress: Rent the Runway Film processing: The FIND Lab Matt and Amy are some of my favorite people in the world and I was so excited to document their one-year anniversary photo shoot. We had so much fun in Lakeside Park and Davis Park and they even let me shoot the whole thing on film (I know!) Those parks are some of the most beautiful (and free) photo shoot locations in all of Dallas.
Congrats on one year, you two love birds. Thank you for the huge role you've played in our lives the past year. Y'all are gems! I've decided I love anniversary shoots just as much, if not more than, engagement shoots. Don't get me wrong -- I LOVE engagement shoots. Chatting about the wedding, how the couple met, seeing the excited puppy love in their eyes. It's fresh, new and invigorating. How can you not enjoy that?
Anniversary sessions are a bit different. They're still in love but there's a different force at work. They're comfortable with each other. They've got a year of marriage under their belts. Giddiness and excitement is replaced with respect and deeper knowledge of love. There's a peacefulness about them. Kisses are deeper; hugs are held longer. Will and Beth married last year in September in downtown Plano and when they were up in the area for a wedding, decided to do an anniversary shoot in the same place. We recreated some of their wedding shots and then came up with a few of our own. I've known Will and Beth since grad school at Baylor and I've seen them grow in their relationship over the years, from Waco, to long distance, to SUPER long distance (the Netherlands to Texas, anyone?), to jobs in the same city, to engagement and marriage. If you're ever in the mood for a craft beer and some pub trivia, the Farnsworths are your people. One year, guys. Here's to many more! |
